How We Plan, Teach and Celebrate Your Child's Learning

At ACELP, every child is viewed as a capable, curious and competent learner. Our educators carefully plan learning experiences that are unique to each child while also creating exciting inquiry projects that inspire collaboration, creativity and deep thinking.

Learning Begins with Relationships

Before planning begins, our educators spend time building trusting relationships with each child and family. Through careful observation, listening and meaningful interactions, we develop an understanding of each child's strengths, interests, developmental progress and learning style. These observations become the foundation of our curriculum.

An Inquiry-Based Curriculum

Our educational program is delivered through an Inquiry-Based Curriculum, where children and educators learn alongside one another as researchers. Children's ideas, questions and curiosities guide long-term learning projects, while educators draw upon current educational research, professional knowledge and the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) to intentionally extend children's learning.

Rather than following a predetermined program, our curriculum evolves throughout the year as educators continually observe, research, plan, implement, reflect and evaluate children's learning. This ensures every learning experience remains meaningful, engaging and responsive to the children in each learning environment.

How We Document Learning

Children's learning is documented in a variety of ways to capture both their individual growth and their contributions to group learning. These include:

* Learning Inquiry Project Journals that document the development of each room's educational projects.
* Individual Learning Stories and Special Books that celebrate each child's unique learning journey and are shared with families at the end of the year.
* Observations and Listening Records that help educators understand children's thinking, interests and developmental progress.
* Summative Assessments that track learning against the Early Years Learning Framework and are developed in partnership with families.
* Family Goals and Contributions, ensuring your aspirations for your child help shape their learning throughout the year.

Partnering with Families

Families are an essential part of each child's learning journey. We invite families to share their goals, interests and insights, which are incorporated into our curriculum and ongoing planning. Throughout the year, educators work closely with families to celebrate children's achievements and discuss their ongoing development.

Sharing Your Child's Day

We know families enjoy seeing snapshots of their child's experiences throughout the day. We share highlights of children's learning and daily experiences through our secure family communication platforms. While these moments provide a wonderful glimpse into your child's day, they represent just a small part of the extensive planning, teaching, research and reflection that occurs behind the scenes to support every child's learning and development.
